Main idea คืออะไร

Main idea  คือใจความหลักของเรื่อง เป็นส่วนที่สำคัญที่สุดของเรื่องที่ผู้เขียนต้องการบอกให้ผู้อ่านทราบว่า  ผู้เขียนได้เขียนเกี่ยวกับเรื่องอะไร ซึ่งเป็นส่วนที่ครอบคลุมเรื่องนั้นๆ 

 Main Idea มี 2 ชนิด

1. State main idea  คือ หลักใหญ่ใจความที่สำคัญที่สุดของเรื่อง ซึ่งผู้เขียนบอกมาตรงๆ สามารถครอบคลุมเนื้อหาของเรื่องได้ทั้งหมด จะต้องตั้ง main idea ไว้ในการเขียน และบรรยายหรือธิบายโดยยึด main idea เป็นหลัก ส่วนที่ขยายหรือบรรยายให้รายละเอียดต่อจาก main idea คือ supporting idea โดยปกติ ในเนื้อความหนึ่งๆ เรามักจะพบ state main idea ได้ในตอนต้น ตอนกลาง หรือตอนท้ายของย่อหน้า เช่น

Bicycles are very popular today in many countries. Many people use bicycles for exercise. But exercise is only one of the reasons why bicycle are popular. Another reason is money. Bicycles are not expensive to buy. They do not need gas to make them go. They also are easy and cheap to fix. In cities, many people like bicycles better than cars. With a bicycle, they never have to wait in traffic. They also do not have to find a place to park. And finally, bicycles do not cause any pollution!

   Main idea :  Bicycles are popular today for many people..

2. Implied main idea หมายถึง การกล่าวถึง main idea ในลักษณะที่ผู้เขียนไม่ได้เอ่ยมาตรงๆ ทันที เพียงแต่แสดงนัยให้เห็นเท่านั้น ผู้อ่านต้องวินิจฉัยเอาเองเพื่อให้เห็นได้ชัด

My name is Maria, and I live at 645 B Street. I like B Street. It is a nice street.

      Main idea :  Maria is pleased to live on B Street.

ตำแหน่งของ Main Idea โดยส่วนใหญ่แล้ว Main Idea จะปรากฏใน 3 ลักษณะ  ดังนี้

Main Idea in the Beginning  (อยู่ตรงต้นเรื่อง)

Main Idea in the Middle  (อยู่ตรงกลางเรื่อง)

Main Idea at the End   (อยู่ตรงท้ายเรื่อง)

The main idea

In understanding the concept of a "main idea," it is useful to distinguish between the following terms: topic, main idea, theme, topic sentence, and purpose.

    The topic of a text is the subject, or what the text is about. A topic can be expressed as a noun or a noun phrase. Some examples of topics include recycling, mammals, trees of New England, and names.

    An idea is what you say about a topic. Ideas, including the main idea, are expressed as sentences. If someone asks you to identify the main idea of a passage and you respond with a single word, you haven't said enough; you've probably just identified the topic. Some examples of main ideas include:

    A theme is an idea that is repeated throughout a text or collection of texts. For example, "the importance of family in shaping identity" is a theme that can be found throughout literature.

    A topic sentence is the term used to identify the sentence in a paragraph that contains the main idea.

2. Main idea tells what a story is mostly about.

3. When looking for main idea we must think of what FINALLY happened in the story.

5. The middle finger stands for where.

6. Where did the main character do it?

7. The ring finger stands for when.
